New Portfolio Site: http://scriar.artstation.com/

I have just finished moving my work to my new portfolio site hosted by Artstation. It can be viewed here: http://scriar.artstation.com/ The page has many images that were not included on my previous portfolio that I have done during my Masters Degree and during my spare time, I have also uploaded all of the images in High Resolution.

Cyclops Development sheet final

Image
Cyclops Development Sheet Here is my final development sheet for my Cyclops character design. I decided to give him a weapon, and do a side view to just finish it off and make it more useful in a production setting. I probably wont be uploading much if anything to my Facebook page from now on, primarily it is due to the awful compression on images that I have already compressed,  consequently making everything look blurry. Originally I was going to delete the page, but I have decided to keep it around as a portfolio page of sorts, perhaps if the page becomes more popular in future Ill update it more. From now on Ill be posting my work primarily on my Art Station page: http://www.artstation.com/artist/Scriar and this blog. Further to this I have also deleted my deviant art account. I have found the site to be a waste of time to be honest when it comes to promoting my artwork and looking for work in my field; and as such I would much rather spend my time promoting myself on s...

The Dragon Throne wip 5

Image
Dragon throne wip 5 Some more progress on my Dragon Throne illustration. I decided to tilt the perspective to make it a more dynamic scene. I think all the elements of the picture are in place now and it will hopefully just be a case of rendering everything out from this point.

Image
Demon Creature design Warhammer Chaos Warrior wip Ogre Shrine sketch Ogre Shrine AO 1 Ogre Shrine AO 2 Ogre Shrine AO 3 Forest Creek wip Here is some of work I have been doing lately that I plan to take to a finish, I have been doing a lot of jumping around exploring different ideas for my personal work recently since it keeps things interesting and it helps to give me ideas on the future directions for my personal projects. The first picture is a Demon Character design which is currently in my portfolio. I wanted to try something different as I usually focus on other subject matters. The second is a Warhammer Chaos Warrior design work in progress, I wanted to do a fantasy picture that focused on the design of an armour set hence the symmetrical pose, and I decided to place it in the Warhammer fantasy universe, and in particular the Chaos faction since they are my favourite. Next up is my new 3D project which I am also hoping will turn out well e...

Final crossroads texture sheet

Image
I meant to post this previously, they are the textures that I made for 'The CrossRoads' environment. They are all either 256, or 512 for the most part.

Norman/Medieval Cottage concept final

Final Norman/Medieval Cottage concept art Here is the final version of the cottage I postage yesterday, with a top down and side/back view. Ill hopefully be modelling this some time in the near future as my first 3D portfolio piece.

Final shots of 'The Crossroads' udk environment, and a my next portfolio piece wip1.

Image
Here are the final progress shots for my UDK environment, Ive added some simple mountain shapes to the background in order to give the level a more natural looking end, and I added a seperate fog volume to make it look like as you go higher your going above the clouds. I might do a fly through of the environment in the future so I can learn how to do it, at the moment I want to move on to other work. The forth picture is my latest portfolio work, I am designing a house asset, which I actually wanted to fit into my action RPG project which 'The Crossroads' is a part of. I am planning to model this at some point since I think have I learned enough of the basics to try something more challenging like this house. There is a top down view of the house as well,  and I want to do a background shot once this establishing shot is done, so that it is easier to model, and also because I wanted to have some more production style work in my portfolio. Edit: I put together...

Some progress screenshots of my UDK environment 'The Crossroads'

Image
Here are the progress shots from my first UDK environment 'The Crossroads'. I think I am almost finished with it; at least in the sense of accomplishing what I wanted to at the beginning of the project, i.e to gain a well rounded knowledge of UDK and 3D modelling for environments which I can build upon for future projects. I am going to add some foliage to the background to hide the edge of the level, and then I want to put together a fly through so I can learn that aspect of the program and so I can easily showcase the project. In other news, I am still looking for work, and working on my portfolio. Initially that involved doing this 3D work to show I can do it, but I think after looking around at other peoples portfolios that perhaps it will be best to just cut all of the 'kind of okay' work from my portfolio and just focus on my strengths and interests rather than trying to show everything.

The Crossroads environment, AO pass wip 2

Image
Blocked in more of The Crossroads environment that I mentioned in the last post earlier today. Im going to make some plants next, to start adding to the scene, and then it should be basically done. Ill begin UV mapping after that, texturing, light maps, and finally will add the collision which I think I understand how to do now lol.

'New Feeling' wip illustration, AO pass prop collection one, AO pass the crossroads wip 1

Image
Here is what I am currently working on. The first is a wip of a character portrait illustration entitled 'New feeling' I am basically doing it to try creating a character illustration with a lot of layered colours and varied edges. The second picture is an AO pass of some of the props I have been making lately, and the third is a current wip of my new 3D project. A modular environment based on my concept 'The Crossroads' which you can view in my portfolio, as with most of my models I have scaled everything to UDK size. As a scale reference the little box in the third picture is the size of a UDK character. Below is a wip of the current modular pieces I have built for the scene.
