Heres another portfolio illustration for my mini TCG land card project. This time its a Lava Falls, my last one is going to be the one of the castle shown in the thumbnails I posted previously since I need more architecture I think in my illustration portfolio and who doesnt like castles lol

Starting a new project to create work to put in the illustration section of my portfolio. I decided I wanted to do some work that could work in a card game, since I hope it will lead to those kind of commissions. Since I specialise in Environments design and Landscape Illustration I thought creating 'Land card' illustrations would be a good idea, I had Magic the Gathering and similar card games in mind when doing the thumbs. First up is a Winsterscape. I think ill do the castle one last, I am not 100% sure yet what to do for the next one, leaning towards the lava falls.

Portrait study Princess portrait practice A portrait study from reference since I haven’t done one in a while. Original photo was by Kyle Tunney I think but I cant seem to find it again. And a portrait of a Princess that I did to practice what I had learned from the study.

In the story the brothers are told by the fox that when they get to an approaching village there will be two inns. One inn is described as mean and old and the other is nice, and full people merry making however they should stay at the mean inn. Of course only the younger brother listens, for his reward the fox returns and tells him where he can find the Golden Bird. I went with the converted gatehouse design for the new inn since I thought it had a grandeur look to it. For the mean looking inn I went for a more layered asymmetrical design.

The story initially starts out with the apples of the Golden Tree disappearing, the Gardener is tasked by the king to investigate. He sets his sons each to guard the tree, but only his youngest son succeeds in discovering its the Golden Bird taking the apples.

Here are the final design and thumbnails for the Gardener, part of my Golden Bird project. The Gardener is the father of the three brothers in the story.

This is a new project that I am starting that will eventually serve as my new concept art portfolio. Its is the visual development of The Golden Bird by the Brothers Grimm. A story about three brothers who are sent on a quest to retrieve a bird with golden feathers. I decided to develop this story as, as with most Brothers Grimm stories the description for the characters is almost non existent leaving lots of room for interpretation.
